Key applications.

This page gives access to information about some of the more important reports of modelling studies in which ALOGIT has been used. Although it can be used in many other contexts, ALOGIT was developed for application in large-scale transport demand studies.

  • The Zuidvleugel study ('South Wing', 1977-1981) was the most important precursor to the Dutch National Model (1983-2025 and going strong). The tour-based modelling used in this study was an important forerunner to Activity-Based modelling, while the tour modelling approach formed a template for other large-scale transport models.
  • Presentations for FHWA (2015), give an overview of a range of large-scale modelling projects:
    • the Sydney area model is a classical large-scale application of tour-based travel demand modelling
    • six European wide-area models including the Netherlands National Model, show the range of capabilities that can be achieved with models of this type
    • models of long-distance corridors are a further group of applications and often focus on major transport investment projects.

Other important applications in large-scale travel demand forecasting are for the national models in Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Ireland, for long-distance travel in the US and for the whole of Europe, together with activity-based models for Copenhagen and many US conurbations.
